Multiplying and Dividing by Three
Skipping Your Way Through Multiplication and Division
Multiplying and dividing by three is just skip counting by three. This workbook makes it easy by providing guidance from the color-coded telephone sequence. The martian telephone is almost the same as an earthlings phone except, the keys are rotated and the zero comes right before the three. This is a memory aid that helps the student skip count in threes. They should memorize the telephone sequence: 0,3,6,9,2,5,8,1,4,7. The cutout on page 2 is for practice and fun. The student multiplies or divides three in the spaceship with the aid of the color-coded telephone sequence. This encourages the student to draw on their skill of skip counting in threes as a means to multiply or divide any number by three.
